ATTCH is thrilled to offer approaches that help to regulate the body and the mind. We are currently offering yoga classes (day and evening sessions) as well as an upcoming EFT workshop.
"Dr. Bessel van der Kolk is considered one of the world’s leading authorities on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He has pioneered the use of Yoga as a therapy that is helping these individuals to work through their PTSD and regain a sense of mastery. He discusses mind-body connections in trauma, how Yoga works and precautions for teaching trauma-sensitive Yoga students."
Carol Prentice, Therapist and Yoga Instructor, has completed training with Bessel van der Kolk to learn the techniques of trauma sensitive yoga.
Dr. Gabor Mate, Author of When the Body Says No is now prescribing Yoga as a form of treatment for wellness, stress management, mental health, and addictions. “Yoga puts you in touch with your body” says Maté. "...Yoga promotes a “calmer state of mind that actually allows you to be with your pain rather than escape it …. That’s when the healing happens.”
Our yoga instructors have completed training at Kripalu one of the leading yoga and wellness centres attracting leading trauma and wellness authorities as teachers inclusive of Gabor Mate, Bessel van der Kolk, & David Berceli.
Through yoga we can experiment with:
Breathing
Grounding
Moving
Strengthening
Stretching
Resting
Classes will be set up so that individuals are in control over what they are doing with their body at all times and the teacher is there to provide safe, professional guidance and to help individuals focus on particular aspects of the practice (what muscles they are using, what it feels like to have their feet on the ground and be present, what it feels like to breathe). Classes will be gentle and suitable for all.
Private, semi-private, and small group sessions are available with each of our instructors.
